Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs
 |
Each year on Good Friday, Thistledown
Pet Memorial holds its annual EASTER EGG HUNT FOR
DOGS in support of NATIONAL
SERVICE DOGS.
NATIONAL SERVICE DOGS is a non-profit charitable
organization which trains special dogs for Special
Kids. Children with disabilities are supported by
service dogs especially trained for their disabilities.
NATIONAL SERVICE DOGS is the first organization to
train dogs for autistic children. What a breakthrough!!
|
| On Good Friday morning, approximately 3,500 plastic
Easter eggs are scattered throughout the 50-acre forested
property of Thistledown Pet Memorial. Each egg contains
a dog biscuit, and over 500 of the eggs have a prize
ticket in them. Every year local community members and
businesses donate hundreds of prizes including a special
GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE egg prize. Special prizes are
also awarded to the top three pledge earners. Lots of
goodies, a barbecue, hotdogs, soft drinks and coffee
top off the event. |
 |
 |
So plan on bringing your 4-legged family member (and
the kids) out for a morning of fun. Pledge sheets are
available so you can start collecting pledges right
away.
Non-dog owners are also welcome.

Shadow Box Workshops
Making a Shadow Box can be fun as well as therapeutic.
Workshops held at Thistledown Pet Memorial have proven to
be very successful in both of these areas.
A professional Shadow Box instructor, assisted by Thistledown
staff, holds regular Shadow Box Workshops where approximately
6 people (or couples) make a special keepsake of their beloved
pets. Clients bring along any items, belongings and memorabilia
they have from their pets. There will be additional things
available one can use to add to the boxes (e.g. special
papers for backgrounds, beads, pine cones, letters etc.).
Each participant will have a choice of nine different frames
for his/her Shadow Box. Each finished box is 9" x 14"
and can be used either vertically or horizontally.
At the end of the afternoon or evening workshop (each workshop
is approximately 3 hours in duration), each participant
will take home his/her finished Shadow Box to proudly hang
or display at home.
What a lasting tribute to our beloved pets!
